Spencer — Phillip "Glen" Murray, 88, of Spencer, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 at his home in Spencer.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to NorthStar in Glen's name or to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

Phillip was born on Aug. 2, 1934 near Post, Texas. He went to school in Tahoka and later joined the United States Air Force in 1956. 

He was stationed in Germany where he met his future wife Johanna Sauer in 1958. The couple married on May 15, 1959 in Fulda, Germany. 

The couple left Germany in June of 1961 for Oklahoma Altus Air Force Base in Altus, OK. From there, the couple moved to Spain for the next three years. From September 1968 to June of 1969, they lived in Michigan. One year in Lubbock, Texas was next, then Easter Island, Chile. From 1970-1973, they lived in North Highlands, CA, then Thailand for one year. They lived in Hawaii from July of 1974 to July of 1977, when they moved back to North Highlands.

Glen retired in June of 1981 and moved to Nebraska. Glen was an exceptional woodworker and built a house, a shop and a barn.

Glen is survived by his wife of 63 years Johanna of Spencer; four children son Thomas (Lisa) Murray of Folsom, CA and their children Josh, Kelly, Lindsey and Blake, son Johnny (YanLing) Murray of Sheridan, CA, son Chris Murray of St. Louis, MO and his children Benjamin and Jenna and son Jessie (Libby) Murray of Citrus Heights, CA and their children Dillon, Kylie and Collyn; one brother Hulan Murray; one sister Wanda (Kenneth) Rogers of Kansas City, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mary Katherine and Modena and one brother James.
