The O'Neill Lady Eagles Volleyball team started their season last week facing three opponents in two different matches. On Tuesday, Aug. 28 the Eagles opened up tough against the Elkhorn Valley Falcons taking the Eagles in five sets. The Eagles won the first set 25-16, 22-25, 35-33, 25-23 and 15-10 in the fifth. Aubrey Jackson was the stand out player for the Eagles with 24 kills, one ace serve, one block and 21 digs; Autumn Hilker had 17 kills, two ace serves, one block and 20 digs; Hayley Schluns two kills, one ace serve, and 15 digs; Bergyn Classen five kills, five ace serves, and six digs; Hannah Hilker three kills, one ace serve, 51 set assists and 12 digs;. On Thursday, Aug. 31 the Eagles faced off against Humphrey/Lindsey Holy Family and Boone Central. In the first match against Humphrey the Eagles were defeated 25-17 and 25-11. Hilker dominated for the Eagles with eight kills, 16 set assists and five digs; Jackson four kills; Olivia Young two kills, one ace serve and four digs; Sidak one kill, one block and four digs; and Classen one kill. In game two the Eagles took down Boone Central in three sets. 25-20, 25-9 and 25-18. Ashley Sidak led the Eagles in this one with 12 kills, one ace serve; Jackson 10 kills and one ace serve; Autumn Hilker seven kills and two ace serves; Young six kills and three blocks; Hannah Hilker one kill and 26 set assists; and Schluns one kill, one ace serve and two blocks.
