O'Neill Track Shines At Wayne State Invite

The O'Neill Eagle Track team put on an impressive performance at the Wayne State College Class I invitational. Although no team scores were recorded, the athletes showcased their talent with numerous top finishes and personal bests.

In field events, Serena Chavez led the way in the Girls Triple Jump with a 1st place finish, while Olivia Young secured 4th place. In the Boys Triple Jump, Ian Yates took 8th place. Maddie Heiss displayed her skills in the Girls Long Jump, achieving a 5th place. In the Girls Shot Put, Mariah Kallhoff claimed the top spot with a 1st place finish, and Taylor Young followed closely in 4th place. Brooklynn Cahoy impressed in the Girls Pole Vault, earning 3rd place.

On the track, the Eagles continued to excel. Pryor Mathews dominated the Boys 60-meter hurdles, finishing 1st, while Ian Yates took 6th place. Maddie Heiss sprinted to a 2nd place finish in the Girls 60-meter dash and later claimed victory in the Girls 200-meter dash with a 1st place finish. Mollie Corkle showcased her speed by winning the Girls 400-meter dash, while Trevor Alder secured 2nd place in the Boys 400-meter dash. In the Girls 800-meter dash, Reagon Kaufman earned 5th place, and Nate Brown took 3rd place in the Boys 800-meter dash.

The O'Neill relay teams also had strong showings. The Girls 4x800 relay team, comprised of Taya Dickau, Hannah Hilker, Mia Lindsay, and Mollie Corkle, took home 1st place honors. The Boys 4x800 relay team, featuring Wade Krysl, Tomas Arciniega, Gavin Kruse, and Brandon Romero, finished in 4th place. In the Girls 4x400 relay, the team of Haley Fick, Hannah Hilker, Mia Lindsay, and Gracie Treptow placed 5th, while the Boys 4x400 relay team, consisting of Colten Shoemaker, Nate Brown, Brock Latzel, and Paul Fonseca, finished 6th.

Coach comments praised the athletes' determination and sportsmanship throughout the meet. The O'Neill Eagle Track team continues to demonstrate hard work and dedication as they prepare for upcoming competitions. Congratulations to all the athletes on a successful meet!
