The work session of the O'Neill Public School Board of Education was called to order by President Gene Chohon at 3:00 pm, on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Administrative Offices at 410 East Benton, O'Neill, Nebraska.

The Public Forum for the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plans of the O'Neill Public School was opened by President Gene Chohon at 7:15 pm, on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Administrative Offices at 410 East Benton, O'Neill, Nebraska. 

The plans were reviewed. No changes, other than dates, were made to the plans.

The Public Forum closed at 7:29 pm.

Mr. Rotherham has been in contact with Pro Track and they have asked for current pictures of the track. He will follow up with KSB. No action is necessary.

• Remove Check Signer

A motion to remove Amy Shane as a check signer for the following accounts: the General Fund, Flex Fund, Imprest Fund, Employee Benefit Fund, the Building Fund Depreciation Fund and the Activity Fund, passed with a motion made by Barton Becker and seconded by Michael Hammerlun.

This policy is reviewed annually.  There have not been any recommended or required updates to the policy. We will accept any public comment on this topic tonight.

• Budget

Mrs. Shane and Mr. Rotherham have prepared a preliminary budget for the 2022-2023 school year. After visiting the county assessor, we anticipate there will not be much of a change in our levy for the upcoming school year. Once valuations are released officially on August 20th, the budget will be able to be finalized.  No action is necessary.

• School Audit Engagement

A motion to engage Dana F. Cole to perform the 2021-2022 audit, passed with a motion made by Barton Becker and seconded by Michael Hammerlun.

• Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plans

• Meal Reimbursement

We currently reimburse between 400-500 meals per year for students during the school year when attending overnight events.  The rate hasn't been reviewed/increased in several years and with the current costs of meals, the administration recommends an increase. This will be reviewed at the August board meeting. No action taken at this time.

• Option Enrollment Report

The Option Enrollment report was reviewed. No action is necessary.

• Administrative Reports

Mr. Rotherham gave an oral report expressing his extreme thankfulness to the school board, district and community. He and his wife, Edna, have been fortunate to be welcomed by so many friendly members of the community. Mr. Rotherham shared his appreciation and grafetulness of Mrs. Shane, the other administrators, and the ladies in the office for assisting in the transition.

A motion to approve the bills and claims, and accept the payroll report, passed with a motion made by Amy Rowse and seconded by Barton Becker.
