The O'Neill Fire & Rescue has recently released its call numbers for the year. The department which is staffed by 32 people respond to ambulance and fire calls bounded in the north at the Eagle Creek and in the south to the south fork of the Elkhorn River. The east and west boundaries extend from about Emmet in the west to about four miles east of O'Neill for the eastern boundary. The ambulance service was kept especially busy with the service being called out 493 times. The fire department was called out 64 times not including 20 motor vehicle accidents and 47 community service events. This does not include 126 training hours and 122 station maintenance hours. The O'Neill Fire Department is currently having its fund-raising promotion through a mailer requesting donations to help with the supplemental cost of everything from training, specialized equipment and supplies such as water and gatorade that is used during fires to help keep personal on their feet during incidents. If you did not receive a donation request please feel free to send one to: O'Neill Fire Department at P.O. Box 772, O'Neill, NE 68763
