The O'Neill Eagle boys competed at the Mid States Conference Track Meet held last Saturday, April 29th. Meet was hosted by Norfolk Catholic. The team placed 7th. Oliver Schluns placed sixth overall in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.96. The 4 x 100 meter relay members Oliver Schluns, Porter Mathews, Kyler Dean, and Tyler Diediker placed 5th. In the field events Kyler Dean placed 3rd with an effort of 11' 6”. Tyler Diediker placed 3rd in the long jump with 20' 7”. “As a team we can perform better,” said Coach Hilker. This Thursday, May 4th, the O'Neill Eagles will compete at the Norfolk Catholic Invitational. Field events will start 1:30 p.m. and running events at 3:30 p.m. The O'Neill girls track and field team participated in the Mid State Conference Meet at Norfolk Catholic High School on Saturday, April 29th. Sophomore Brooklyn Cahoy continues to have a great season as she set a new personal best in the pole vault by clearing 9-6 to finish in 2nd place. Junior Presley Heiss picked up medals in the 100 and 200. Presley finished in 2nd in the 100 with a time of 12.87 and 3rd in the 200 with a time of 27.56. The 3200 Relay team of Taya Dickau, Autumn Hilker, Ashley Dickau and Mollie Corkle continue to do well this year and finished in 3rd with their best time of 10:35.74. Freshman Mollie Corkle continues to have a nice season in the 800 finishing in 6th place with a time of 2:28.82. Ashley Dickau ran a 6:10.83, her season best in the 1600 to finish in 5th. Although the throwers did not place, seniors Wreece Liewer and Paige Woodson both had career best days. Wreece set personal bests in both events throwing the shot 34-3 and the discus 100-10. Paige set her career best in the discus with a throw of 104-10. "Although we did not score a huge amount of points as a team, we had several individuals set personal bests. Our 3200 relay team is running very strong right now and keeps improving each meet. Our throwers had an awesome day as well."
