The O'Neill Eagles took to the road for the first round of playoffs in Class C-1. The Eagles lost in a defensive battle, 9-7, on the evening of Nov. 1. The Eagles drew the Auburn Bulldogs for their first-round game. The Bulldogs, ranked slightly higher, hosted the four-and-a-half-hour drive destination game. The defensive battle came down to the fourth quarter, with the Bulldogs pulling out the win with a field goal to put Auburn up by two points. The Eagles' points went to Brady Eichelberger, who had 21 carries on the night with one for a touchdown and with his extra point put the seven on the board for the Eagles; Porter Mathews had six carries on the night for 30 yards; Grady Welke one carry for three yards and Westen Kohl one carry for two yards. Brady Eichelberger had three catches for 36 yards; Pryor Mathews one catch for 10 yards; and Kohl one catch for five yards. Porter Mathews led the defense with 15 tackles; Turner Heiss had nine tackles; Pryor Mathews had six tackles; Welke four tackles; Easton Cooke three tackles; Braxen Eichelberger and Kohl two tackles each. The Eagles ended the season with an 8-2 record and made the playoffs, which had not happened since 2016.
