Mary C. Wimmer

Mary Catherine Wimmer, 89, of O'Neill, died Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Arbor Care Center in O'Neill.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary was born Sept. 6, 1934 to Maurice and Kathryn (Ernst) Graham.  She attended grade school at District 8 located northwest of O'Neill, she enjoyed riding her pony “Lightening” to school.  Mary then graduated from O'Neill High School in 1952.

On Dec. 26, 1953 Mary and Wallace Wimmer married. They met in O'Neill. The Air Force assigned his communications team to support the Great Plains Turbulence Field Project outside O'Neill. To this union six children were born. The family traveled the world and were stationed in several countries: France, Italy, Okinawa, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Nebraska and South Dakota finally returning to Nebraska after Wally's retirement from the Air Force in 1971.

Mary enjoyed daily walks along the cowboy trail, gardening and garage sale season. Mary, a gifted quilter, enjoyed making quilts for granddaughters and grandchildren celebrating life's milestones.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved the lord.

Mary is survived by five children Russell Wimmer of Wayne, Mark (Melissa) Wimmer of Norfolk, Stephanie (Neil) Ruzicka of Eagle, ID, Michael (Carol) Wimmer of Mesa, AZ and Matthew (Dana) Wimmer of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Melody Renee,  granddaughter Megan, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
