Lynda Lou Ann Coday, age 64, passed away Dec. 6, 2012, in Mesa, AZ. 

A wake service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec, 10, 2012, with visitation from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Roeder Mortuary in Gretna.

A funeral mass was held on Dec. 18, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Church in Gretna with Father Norman Hunke officiating. Music was provided by Judy Ashmore and Joyce Keller.

Gift bearers were her grandchildren, Courtney Fox, Gage and Brayden Johnson and Ava Mowery, accompanying them to the alter were their mothers, Jackie Johnson and Teri Mowery.

Pallbearers were Byron Obermire, Doug Obermire, Ray Risor, Ted Parks, Steve Johnson, Todd Klabenes, Kyle Klabenes and John Mowery.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Klabenes, William Davies, Kelly Fox, Ted Johnson, Mike Meysenburg and Jim Gokie.

Burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo.

Roeder Mortuary in Gretna was in charge of arrangements.

Lynda was born in Lynch on Sept. 9, 1948, to Donald and Beuna (Calkins) Hynes of O'Neill. She attended grade school at District #33 and graduated from St. Mary's High School in O'Neill.

On Oct. 17, 1966, she married Dan Coday in Neligh. Two daughters were born to this union.

Lynda worked in the medical field in Fremont and in Omaha for many years. In 2003 she started her own  bath and body company, Scentuals by Mulberrybend from her home near Blair. She and her husband moved to Pennsylvania from Omaha in August 2004 where the company grew and was very successful. They returned home to Nebraska in May of 2009.

She loved working outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens and doing crafts. She loved to decorate, working in that field for years. She also loved to entertain her friends and family in her home when she was physically able to do so. 

Lynda succumbed to cancer in Mesa, AZ, after fighting her personal battle since February 2006 with bronchioloalvelar lung cancer, a rare form of the disease contracted by non-smokers.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Coday of Omaha; daughter, Jackie and her husband, Steve Johnson and their children Courtney, Gage and Brayden of Monument, CO; daughter, Teri and her husband, John Mowery and daughter Ava of Newville, PA; sister, Shelley Hynes of O'Neill; mother-in-law, Ardath Coday of Morris, OK; sister-in-law and husband, Bob and Jeri Klabenes and their families of Morris, OK and Denton, Texas.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Beuna Hynes; grandparents, George and Cleo Calkins and Austin and Dorris Hynes;  father-in-law, Edward Coday and grandson, Nicholas Fox.

It is her request that memorials go to the American Cancer Society for non-smoker lung cancer or the St. Charles Borromeo Church in her memory.
