Lyle Frerichs

Lyle LeRoy Frerichs, 77, of O'Neill died Friday, March 25, 2022 at his home in O'Neill.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill. Rev. John Nelson officiated.

Burial was in the Page Cemetery in Page.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Lyle was born on Oct. 1, 1944 in Dalton, the third child of Willard and Elsie (Rahe) Frerichs. He was baptized in the Wyerts Lutheran Church. He attended country school until his family moved to Page in third grade. 

His father Willard passed away while Lyle was in elementary school. To help support his family, he worked for several farmers in the Page area. 

Lyle was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill on May 25, 1958. He graduated from Page High School in 1962.

Lyle married his high school sweetheart Joyce Grass during his junior year of high school. To this union four children were born JoAnn, Kathy, Chrissy and Lee.  

Lyle managed a grocery store in Emmet, Plainview and then Cherokee, Iowa, before moving back to the Page area. 

The couple later divorced in 1975.  

Lyle then married Rose Walton in 1976. They later divorced in 1985.  

He then married Jackie Martin in Burke, SD on June 20, 1987. She added to the family her daughter Maggie.

Lyle also worked for Meadow Gold for over 20 years. He then spent over 15 years at Old Home Bread. Lyle then worked for Alpha Galvanizing for over 25 years until he retired. Like many people, Lyle wasn't good at being retired, so he got a job as a security guard for TP&L until he was forced to retire again due to health reasons.

Lyle was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill.  

He loved being outdoors doing yard work and tinkering in his garden. He also enjoyed following Husker volleyball and football and playing cards with his friends. When he was younger, he used to help Danny Nekolite race cars.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 34 years Jackie Frerichs of O'Neill; five children JoAnn (Jim) Mitchell of Omaha, Kathy (Mick Mitchell) Clyde and Chrissy Frerichs, all of O'Neill, Lee (Sally) Frerichs of Omaha and Maggie (Bruce Carlson) Storjohann of Elm Creek; eight grandchildren Katie (Kyle) Krause, Jake (Kennedy Drew) Frerichs, Taylor Frerichs, Chelsie Frerichs, Keil Frerichs, Zach Storjohann, Brett (Hannah Branstad) Storjohann and Katie Storjohann; two great-grandchildren Braxton Nelson and Brantley Phillips; two sisters Vernona Nekolite of O'Neill and LaVada (Bill) Stanton of O'Neill; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five grandchildren Allison Mitchell, Grace Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, Aaron Mitchell and Michael Storjohann; one sister Vida (Harlan) Jenkins; and one brother-in-law Danny Nekolite.
