Butte — Lea "Jane" Brewster, 86, of Butte, died Monday, July 22, 2024 surrounded by family.

Visitation was held Monday, July 29, 2024 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Butte with a rosary.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the church in Butte.

Burial was in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Butte.

Memorials may be made to the Butte Historical Museum, Niobrara Valley Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association in Jane's name.

Seger's Funeral Home in Atkinson was in charge of the arrangements.

Lea Jane, daughter of Dale and Hazel (Lyman) Henderson, was born March 26, 1938, in Riverview. Jane was a graduate of Stuart High School in Stuart with the Class of 1956.

Lea Jane Henderson married Dennis Brewster on Thursday June 12, 1958, in Valentine. To this union there are six children Scott, Craig, Susan, Todd, Mark and Brian.

In 1963, Jane and Dennis moved to Butte where they purchased the Butte State Bank where Jane worked for many years. Jane was a passionate supporter of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the people of the Butte community, Butte Historical Museum and Highway 12 Scenic By-Way. Jane was an active member of the PEO and Sts. Peter and Paul Alter Society.

Friday nights were spent at the football field followed by chili and cinnamon rolls at her house. Sunday mornings were celebrated with french toast and coffee. Or anyone just needing a chat and chocolate chip cookie.

Jane is survived by her six children Scott (Renee) Brewster, Craig (Tammy) Brewster, Susan (Kevin) Ryan, Todd (Bonnie) Brewster, Mark (Mindi) Brewster and Brian (Katie) Brewster; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother Jerry (Mary) Henderson: four in-laws Tom (Carol) Brewster, Janet Brewster, Steve Brewster and Don Schmaderer. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her parents Dale and Hazel Henderson parents-in-law Joe and Vera Brewster, one brother in-law Alan Brewster, one sister in-law Sally Schmaderer and a close family friend Marcella “Cella” Hermsen.
