The O'Neill Lady Eagles were able to salvage a little of last week's action on Monday with a win over Neligh/Oakdale 56-19. The rest of the week was challenging for the Lady Eagles running into two buzz saws with a loss to Wagner 61-14 on Tuesday, Jan 18 and then a 72-28 loss to GACC on Friday in West Point.

In the match with Neligh the Eagles took a nice lead going up 28-7 at the half. The Eagles continued to score while holding the Warriors to single-digit scoring per stanza.

Ashley Sidak scored 20 points, hitting five of eight for 63 percent in three-pointers and two of four under the bucket. Sidak had four rebounds and two steals; Olivia Young 11 points, two rebounds and one steal; Presley Heiss 10 points, three rebounds and three steals; Lauryn Dusatko four points and three rebounds; Keeley Chavez three points; Autumn Hilker two points; Zelie Sorensen two points, two rebounds and one steal; and Kiersten Welke two points, two rebounds and one steal.

On Tuesday the girls hit a downhill slide losing to Wagner 61-14. The Red Raiders put up 33 points to end the first half. The girls had trouble getting to the bucket putting only six points on the board before the half. The second half was not much better for the Lady Eagles as they struggled to put up eight while the Red Raiders poured it on the Eagles, running up 28 points.

Welke scored 11 points, one rebound and one steal; Brooklyn Cahoy, Ashley Pischel and Chavez had one point each.

On Friday the girls traveled to West Point for an always tough GACC. The girls lost 72-28.

GACC'S defense was tough and held the girls to single digits. The Blue Jays put up 26 in the first quarter and at the half it was 44-16. The Blue Jays did lose a little momentum in the second half putting up 28 points but with a lack of boards for the Eagles it was a short game.

Sorensen led the Eagles with six points, two rebounds and two steals; Heiss five points and six rebounds; Young four points and one rebound; Sidak four points and one rebound; Chavez three points, four rebounds and one steal; Welke three points and one rebound; and Emma Smith three points.
