250 Wins - Head Softball Coach Chuck Price was honored after the O'Neill Eagles won their sub-district game against Lexington for his 250th win as the Head Coach for O'Neill.

O'Neill played host to the sub-district softball action on Monday, Oct. 4. The Eagles came out on top winning over Lexington and McCook to advance to the district finals this Friday, Oct. 8 at against Omaha Skutt Catholic at 2 p.m. in Omaha. The O'Neill Eagles first game was against Lexington and with the 5-1 win the Eagles Coach Chuck Price got his 250th win. The Eagles opened up scoring in the second inning, when an error scored one run for the Eagles. O'Neill pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Alyssa Fehringer singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The Eagles put up three runs in the fifth inning. Emma Smith, Brooklynn Cahoy, and Mariana Montes powered the big inning with RBIs. Ryanne Pistulka took the win for O'Neill Eagles Varsity. The righthander surrendered one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero. Monica Campos took the loss for Lexington. The bulldog lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one. The Eagles had seven hits in the game. Kiersten Welke and Montes both had multiple hits for the O'Neill Eagles with two each. The next game for the Eagles on Monday put them against McCook. The Eagles took home a 5-3 victory over McCook. McCook struck first on an error in the first inning. An error scored one run for McCook. The Eagles notched two runs in the second inning off a Montes double. O'Neill then scored three runs in the fourth with Pistulka, Wrede and Smith hits. McCook came back with two runs in the sixth to complete scoring. The Eagles sealed the win with great fielding leaving two runners on base. Pistulka was the winning pitcher for the Eagles. The righty allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three. Briley Morgan took the loss for McCook. The pitcher went six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits. O'Neill had eight hits in the game. Wrede and Kiersten Welke both managed multiple hits for the Eagles. Each managed two hits to lead the Eagles. McCook racked up nine hits. Graci Nelson, Brooklynn Gillen, and Jadalyn Berry each collected multiple hits for McCook. In action from last week on Tuesday, Sept. 28 the Lady Eagles traveled to South Sioux City and won big 14-1. The Lady Eagles scored eight runs in the second on their way to a 14-1 victory over South Sioux City. The big inning was thanks to singles by Zelie Sorensen, Wrede, and Charley Mlnarik, a walk by Cahoy, and a double by Fehringer. Pistulka earned the win for O'Neill Eagles Varsity. The right hander went three innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four. Emerson Palsma took the loss for South Sioux City. The righty went three innings, allowing 14 runs on 13 hits, striking out one and walking one. The Eagles tallied 13 hits on the day. Sorensen, Wrede, and Fehringer each collected multiple hits for O'Neill with Wrede and Sorensen at three hits each. O'Neill was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Montes had the most chances in the field with four. On Saturday the Eagles traveled to Pierce for the Mid State Tourney. An early lead helped O'Neill defeat Pierce 16-8 on Saturday. The Eagles scored on a home run by Sorensen, a walk by Cahoy, a single by Fehringer, and a wild pitch during Welke's at bat in the first inning. Bats blistered as the O'Neill Eagles collected 14 hits and Pierce tallied eight in the high-scoring game. The Eagles put up eight runs in the second inning. Emma Wrede, Charley Mlnarik, Cahoy, Fehringer, Welke, and Sorensen all drove in runs in the frame. Pierce scored three runs in the fifth inning. Pierce big bats were led by Aubrey Hanson, Addison Sporleder, and Haylie DeBoer, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Smith was credited with the victory for the O'Neill Eagles Varsity. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out two. Pistulka started the game, going two innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out one. The Eagles hit one home run on the day with Sorensen's dinger in the first inning. O'Neill totaled 14 hits in the game. Fehringer, Wrede, Smith, Welke, Loretta Scofield, and Mariana Montes each managed multiple hits for O'Neill. Pierce racked up eight hits. Sporleder, DeBoer, and Hanson all collected multiple hits for Pierce. Sporleder led Pierce with three hits in three at bats. In action against Boone Central the Eagles claimed a 12-4 victory on Saturday, despite a big push by Boone Central in the fourth inning. Boone Central's big inning was driven by a walk by Ava Buhlmann, a triple by Addy Donelson, and a single by Ashlyn Krohn. O'Neill put up five runs in the fourth inning. Contributing to the big inning included Emma Smith, Alyssa Fehringer, Loretta Scofield, and Kiersten Welke, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Pistulka earned the victory on the rubber. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while walking one. Smith threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Smith recorded the last four outs to earn the save for the Eagles. Ashtyn Hedlund led things off in the circle for Boone Central. The pitcher went four innings, allowing 12 runs on five hits and striking out one. Smith led O'Neill Eagles Varsity with two hits in four at bats. Boone Central had nine hits in the game. Krohn and Madisyn Cunningham all managed multiple hits for Boone Central.
