MONIQUE GAMAGE The St. Mary's girl's basketball team traveled to Niobrara to take on the Cougars on Tuesday, Dec. 7. The Lady Cards played the Cougars tough but managed a 15-4 lead at the half. Things went awry for the girls in the third when the Cougars put up 20 points on the Cards eight and took a one-point lead. The fourth quarter was a battle ending in a tie and overtime. The Cards managed to pull away with four points to defeat the Cougars. Mya Hedstrom led the Cardinals with 20 points, Hedstrom shot 100 percent from the two-point range and 12 of 16 free throws for 75 percent, Mya had 15 rebounds and two steals; Hope Williamson had 12 points, two rebounds and four steals; Alissa Brabec 11 points, five rebounds and one steal; and Lorissa Reiman four points, eight rebounds and one steal.
