The St. Mary's girls finished their regular season out last week going 16-6, winning over Boyd County 55-38 and falling to West Holt 45-34. In the game against Boyd County the Cards played well in the first half outscoring the Spartans by six in the first quarter. Tthe Spartans kept pace with the Cards in the second scoring 13 points to the Cards 14. The Cards led at the half 29-22. A devastating third quarter sunk the Spartans' chances at a win with the Cards holding them to two points in the third. The Spartans put up 14 in the fourth but the damage was done in the 17 point win for the Cards. Hope Williamson led the Cards with 17 points, three rebounds and two points; Alissa Brabec 14 points, one rebound and two steals; Mya Hedstrom 13 points, five rebounds and five steals; Lorissa Reiman nine points, 13 rebounds and two steals; and Charley Mlnarik two points, six rebounds and one steal. SMH 15 14 14 12 55 BCS 9 13 2 14 38 On Thursday, Feb. 10 the Cards traveled to Atkinson to take on the Huskies and fell short 45-34. The Cards had trouble keeping up with the faced paced Huskies, who put up almost double the points in the first quarter. The Cards kept pace in the second but trailed 17-12 at the half. The third quarter was devastating for the Cards as they could only manage four points and the Huskies went up 29-16. The Cards made a valiant effort in the fourth bringing the score to within ten points with just over two minutes left in the game. The Cards had Annabelle Barlow and Hope Williamson both fouled out with little time remaining for a comeback. Reiman led the Cards with 14 points, 13 rebounds and four steals; Hedstrom eight points, two rebounds and three steals; Williamson five points, five rebounds and two steals; Brabec five points, one rebound and one steal; and Charley Mlnarik two points and one rebound.
