Lady Broncos Finish Week 1-1

Jan 26, 2022 Updated Feb 8, 2022 (0)

The Lady Broncos had a strange end to last week as they played back-to-back nights on Thursday and Friday with seven girls out due to sickness and injuries. The girls responded well to the unexpected and battled with C-1 Valentine and Santee.

Against Valentine, the Lady Broncos were only down one at the break. A tough third quarter was why the Lady Broncos fell 45-39 in the contest. Lexi Schroder led the Lady Broncos with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman, Reagan Stracke, came off the bench and made an impact with six points and five steals. Sarah Wallinger had four points and five rebounds and Sydney Estill had three and nine rebounds.

On Friday night, the Lady Warriors from Santee came to town and the shorthanded Lady Broncos pulled away with the win, 48-34. A big fourth quarter aided the Lady Broncos in their 14-point victory. Lexi Schroder had her third double-double of the week with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Cadence Kramer had a solid game with eight points and nine rebounds. Sydney Estill came up big with seven points and eight rebounds. Emma Alder, Abigail Tubbs and Sarah Wallinger each had four points. Alder hit a big three-pointer in the third quarter that lit a spark for the Lady Broncos.

The Lady Broncos will travel to O’Neill on Thursday the 27th to face the #3 St. Mary’s Cardinals. The NVC Tournament will start on Saturday, and the Lady Broncos will host Boyd County. Tip-off is set for 3:30.
