Atkinson — John Robert "Bob" Miksch, 86, of Atkinson, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022. Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 15, 2022 at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson with a prayer service. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus in Atkinson in Bob's name. Bob was born to John and Mary (Wewel) Miksch on July 10, 1936 at their home south of Stuart. He was the youngest of nine children. Bob attended the Radcliff School located south of Stuart until the eighth grade. That concluded his classroom education. However education didn't stop for Bob as he learned from the school of hard knocks. His working days included custom haying, working as a mechanic at Southside 66 and then in 1971 he started his own ranch that he acquired in 1971 from his uncle Henry. Bob married Phyllis Welsh on June 4, 1960 in Emmet. In September of 1969 Bob and Phyllis adopted their daughter Marsha and in September 1971 they adopted their son Darrell. Bob was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Through the years he enjoyed working the ranch, fishing trips, playing cards, traveling and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife Phyllis of 62 years; one daughter Marsha (Tony) Thurlow of Atkinson; one son Darrell (Sally) of Atkinson; four grandchildren Amanda (Tyler) Schaaf, Megan (Mitchell) Dvorak, Katie (Nick) Kolar and Emily Miksch; three great-grandchildren; and one sister Lorene Trausch of Roseland. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law Michael Wenner; six sisters infant Catherine, Gertrude Bott, Annie Bott, Helen Schantz, Mary Ann Batterman and Delores Malone; and one brother Martin Miksch.
