Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements. James was born on May 12, 1947 in Sutherland to Ambrose A. and Rose Ann (Beckman) Reicks. The family lived on a ranch near Sutherland until Jim was five years old. Then the family moved to a ranch nine miles south and east of Bartlett, 15 miles north of Spalding. Jim attended and graduated from Wheeler Central High School in 1966. In high school, Jim excelled at running. Jim was introduced to Beverly Orsborn on a blind date on March 25, 1967. After high school, Jim attended Milford Tech for metallurgy. After college, he moved to Omaha and worked for Fruehauf Independent Metals for two years, until being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970. In August of 1971, he and Beverly Orsborn were married. In 1972, daughter Corri joined the family. After discharge from the military in December of 1971, Jim returned to Omaha for a short time. In 1973, Jim and Beverly returned to O'Neill where Jim started to work for the United States Postal Service. Erinn joined the family in 1976, completing their family. Jim was a letter carrier with the Postal Service until his retirement in November of 2003. From 2005-2012, Jim worked for Guttertech in O'Neill. Jim always loved to partake in family events and never missed anything his girls were doing. He and Bev loved spending time with brothers and sisters and their spouses, or going to their parents to visit. Family meant everything to them. Jim and Bev went on small trips around Nebraska and bigger trips to visit Corri and Greg and friends. They loved going by car and the vacation always started when they left O'Neill. Jim planned most of the trips. Oftentimes, just by reading something that interested him, Jim would plan a trip. Bev loved all the trips Jim took her on! When not travelling, Jim also loved to fish, hunt and woodwork. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years Bev Reicks of O'Neill, two daughters Corri (Greg) Heiss of Everett, WA and Erinn Reicks (Phil Dugan) of Page, two brothers David Reicks of West Point and Ed (Joyce) Reicks of Pierce, one sister Karen (Kevin) Esch of Columbus and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Reicks, one sister-in-law Suzanne Reicks, one niece Carrie Essink and in-laws Herman and Wyona Orsborn.
