Chambers ­— Irene Faye Beed, 82, of Chambers, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at her home near Chambers.

Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at the mortuary in O'Neill. Mike Loy officiated.

Graveside services were held Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at the Chambers Cemetery in Chambers. Pastor Mike Durre officiated.

Memorials may be made to the Chambers Volunteer Fire Department.

Irene was born in Inman on Aug. 9, 1939 to Albert and Genevieve (Butterfield) Kopejtka. She attended Inman Public Schools and grew up in the Inman area. 

On Nov. 15, 1957, Irene married Howard "Bud" Beed in Winner, SD. This union brought six children: Elizabeth, Cheryl, Natalie, Steve, Doug and Susan. The couple moved a few times before making their home northwest of Chambers.

Irene cooked for the cattle and hay crews and was a collector of salt and pepper shakers and anything rooster. 

She enjoyed word search puzzles and doing embroidery until her eyesight began to fail. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her six children Beth (Robert) Grubb of Chambers, Cheryl (Bob) Taylor of Burwell, Natalie (Tim) VanderPol of Lansing, KS, Steve Beed, Doug (Jody) Beed and Susan (Ted) Martin, all of Chambers; 13 grandchildren Cammy, Brooke, Samantha, Nicole, Sydney, Hannah, Josh, Kayleb, Pepper, Cayenne, Mace, Trent and Kelsey; five great-grandchildren Chase, Truitt, Irelyn, Odin and Paitin; three siblings Gary (Diane) Kopejtka of Lincoln, Dee Miller of Inman and Carolyn Sass of Huron, SD; her faithful companion Bobo; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bud; and three siblings Sonny, Babe and Shirley.
