Hometown Christmas Celebration Friday

Nov 29, 2023 (0)

HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS 2022 - This picture was taken at last year's Hometown Christmas celebration. Santa waves at the crowd as the town Christmas tree is lit up.

This year's Hometown Christmas celebration is drawing near. It begins Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. at the Handlebend Building. Here are just a few of the fun things to do when the day comes.

There will be so many things to do at the Handlebend, starting with a free will donation soup supper sponsored by O'Neill Assembly of God Church. Little Tots Daycare kids and Preschoolers can enjoy making art in the sand. Kids of all ages can visit with Santa Claus and tell him what they want this year for Christmas. There will also be a bake sale provided by Little Disciples Christian Childcare.

At the corner of 3rd and Douglas there will be Hayrack Rides provided by the Kloppenborgs for more relaxed fun. All of these activities will be open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The day isn't over however, because at 7 p.m. the lighted Christmas parade will be held downtown. Any organization, business or individual is invited to enter into the parade. There will be awards given out based on the top displays. Visit https://www.oneillchamber.com/ and find the lighted Christmas parade entry form to find more details.

After the Christmas parade wraps up, the town Christmas tree will be lit up at the corner of 3rd and Douglas for all to see. This will conclude the celebration.

This is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and to get involved with your community at the same time. Happy Holidays and have fun at this year's Hometown Christmas Celebration!
