Holt County Department of Weeds Proceedings (9-25-2025)

The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session. This meeting was publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943 Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication in paper as shown by Affidavit of Publication on KBRX September 12, 2025, on the radio. Dan Pribil convened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster.  

The meeting started at 7:00 P.M.

Present: Dan Pribil, Kevin DeKay, Caleb Ross, Tom Welsh, Dan Drueke, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke.

Minutes Approved: Caleb Ross made a motion to approve the minutes by Tom Welsh seconded. All approved

Claims Approved: Kevin Dekay made a motion to approve the claims by Dan Drueke second. All approved.

Public comments: None were made

New Business:

We are done spraying trees for the season.  We are spraying leafy spurge and then Spotted Knapweed.

The pledge from the Upper Elkhorn was approved for $6,000 a year for three years, the NET Grant paperwork was sent in on the 2nd of September to match the funding from the Upper Elkhorn and LNNRD.

Bill did some night meetings to get these grants. Caleb Ross made a motion to give Bill a day of Comp time; Dan Drueke seconded the motion. All board members were in favor.

Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed.

Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.

A date was set for the next meeting October 9th, 2025, at 7 PM at the Holt County Weed Office.  

The meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
