Holt County Department of Weeds Proceedings (12-21-2023)

The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session as per adjournment with all members present. This meeting publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943 Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication in paper as shown by Affidavit of Publication on December 7, 2023, in the Holt County Independent. Chairman John Hammerlun convened the meeting at 6:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster.

Chair John Hammerlun called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

Present: Dan Drueke, Tom Welsh, Kevin DeKay, Dan Pribil, Chair John Hammerlun, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke. 

Minutes Approved: Tom Welsh made a motion to approve the minutes and Dan Drueke seconded. All approved

Claims Approved: Dan Pribil made a motion to approve the claims and Kevin DeKay seconded. All approved.

Dustin Breiner made a motion to pre approve claims that will come in before the 10th of December. Tom Welsh seconded. All Approved. 

Old Business: N/A

New Business: Shredding is ongoing with 125 hours on skid loader. Bill has been in Dist. 6.

Nick Wordekemper with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture was here November 13, 2023 for office evaluation. Holt County Weed Department came out with a perfect score. Certification 200 points, Noxious Weed Inspections and Inspection Reports 300 points, Individual Notices and Noxious Weed Enforcement 300 Points, General Notice 100 points, Miscellaneous 100 points. Congratulations Bill Babutzke. 

Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. 

Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.

Next Meeting will be Thursday January 11, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Weed Department Office.  

Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Dan Drueke seconded. All approved. 

Meeting adjourned at 6:34pm.
