June 13,2014 The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session. This meeting publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943. Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication on radio station KBRX as shown by Affidavit of Publication on June 11, 2024. John Hammerlun convened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster. Present: Tom Welsh, Dan Pribil, Kevin DeKay, John Hammerlun, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke. Excused: Dan Drueke Minutes Approved: Dan Pribil made a motion to approve the minutes and Tom Welsh seconded. All approved Claims Approved: Dustin Breiner made a motion to approve the claims and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved. Old Business: Tin for the shop. The roof is completed by Dan Ruda. Completion of the sides on or near the end of June or the first of July and after that the installation of new doors. The insulation of the building looks good. New Business: The Nebraska Department of Agriculture grant was not given out to the state by the Governor. Programs that will affect Holt County are spraying the Niobrara River, the Weed Watch newspaper only to name a few. Red Sorrel is an invasive weed that has really spread this year. This is easy to kill, the best chemical to use is 5 ounces of Milestone. Spray in the spring. Inspections: The board reviewed and discussed all inspections. Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge. Next meeting July 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Holt County Weed Office. Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Kevin DeKay seconded. All approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:33 pm.
