Gaughenbaugh Medals As Lady Eagles Finish 6th At State

The O'Neill Lady Eagles Golf Team traveled to Columbus last week to play at the Elks Country Club in Columbus for the 2022 Class C Girls State Golf Tournament on Monday, Oct. 11 and Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The teams at the Class C State Tournament were Adams Central, Archbishop Bergan, Broken Bow, Chadron, Hershey, Laurel-CC, Lincoln Christian, Lincoln Lutheran, Minden, Oakland-Craig, O'Neill, Scotus, Superior, Valentine and Wayne. 

Winning the Class C State Championship was Broken Bow with a team score of 688 in two rounds of golf. 

The O'Neill Lady Eagles finished in sixth  place as a team with a score of 786. The lone medalist for O'Neill was junior Kaylin Gaughenbaugh as she finished with a 35 over par 179 and placed 11th. 

“I am very proud with how we closed out our season! We finished sixth as a team and Kaylin Gaughenbaugh placed 11th individually," said  Coach Ashley Belmer.
