Garry attended Redbird Country School and graduated from Lynch High School in 1953. Garry served two years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. When he returned, he married Sally Shaw on Oct. 4, 1958, in Verdel. They were blessed with four children. Together they lived 58 of their 60 years of marriage on the family farm in Redbird that was homesteaded by his grandpa Billy Wilson. Garry worked as a part-time Nebraska brand inspector for 40 years, retiring at the age of 83. This job was his passion and the people he met and worked with became his lifelong friends. Garry loved to tell his favorite brand inspecting stories, repeating them whenever he had an audience. He never knew a stranger, always conversing with anyone near him, whether he was in a corral or at a city bus stop. He was a member of the Dorsey Community Church and the VFW 5755 of Lynch. Later on in life, he was also a member of the American Legion Post 0228. Community was important to both Garry and Sally. They restored the one room Redbird schoolhouse to be shared for family events. Hunters from across the nation were welcomed here to hunt the land he loved. Garry enjoyed his horses, always having a saddlehorse in the corral and a pony for the kids, grandkids and city cousins to ride. Garry Wilson's legacy was the family farm. There was always an open door here for many generations of the Wilson family to return to their roots. Garry is survived by his four children Sonja Wilson of Cheyenne, WY, Clark Wilson of Redbird, Jill (Jon) Krajewski of Oshkosh and Kurt (Billie) Wilson of Burns, WY; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother Jr (Joy) Wilson of Bloomfield; and two sisters-in-law Janice DeKay of Lynch and Nancy (Gary) Mau of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his wife Sally; four brothers Alfred, Bill, Jack and Virgil Wilson; and three sisters Willa Gusner, Vivian Anderson and Mary Ann Darnell.
