Eunice Eloise Mann, 95, of O'neill, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023 at her home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at the Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill. Pastor John Nelson will officiate.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at the Blackbird Cemetery in rural O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to the Special Olympics in Eunice's name.

Eunice was born March 16, 1928 in a farm house southwest of Lindsay to Sigurd and Valborg (Buhl) Jensen.  She started school at District 40 (Looking Glass School) in Platte Co.  Eunice moved with her parents north of St. Edward in 1935; finished elementary school at Fairview School and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1945.

During her teenage years she concentrated on 4-H. Every year many home and livestock projects were completed. In 1945, Eunice won a trip to National Club Congress in Chicago and in 1946 she represented Nebraska at the National 4-H Club in Washington D.C.  Eunice went on to graduate from the University of NE – Lincoln in 1949 with a degree in home economics education and a minor in life sciences.  

She began teaching in 1949 in Ord and went on to teach 31 years in Burwell, Atkinson and O'Neill where she served as the special education teacher for 23 years.  

While in Ord, Eunice met Arthur Mann. They were married in 1952 and became parents to four children Paul, Barbara, Timothy and Christopher. Art and Eunice lived on a ranch near Burwell until 1959 at which time they purchased their ranch north of O'Neill. They lived there until Art passed away in 2012 and Eunice until her death on Dec. 3, 2023.

Eunice loved flowers, gardening, quilting, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and visiting with her friends.  

She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, the Green Thumb Garden Club, Retired teachers and Tops of Atkinson.  

Eunice was also very proud of her Danish heritage. All four of her grandparents migrated from Denmark. She especially liked to share some of the Danish customs as well as teach them to her grandchildren.

Eunice is survived by her four children Paul (Nancy) of O'Neill, Barb (Ken) Bode of Elgin, Tim (Ann) and Chris, all of O'Neill; nine grandchildren Sarah (Jonathan) Crosby, Tony (Sara) Mann, Cody, Tyler (Hannah) and Jake Bode, Angie (Seth) Ehlers, Jason (Lydia) Mann, Kelsey (Trent) Carstens and Katie (Justin) Scholl;19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years Arthur and two brothers Eugene and Keith Jensen.
