Last Monday, Oct. 21 kicked off the Mid-States Conference Tournament at Norfolk Catholic with the O'Neill Eagles there. Before the Tourney, however, the Eagles paid Pierce a visit but were shut down.

Set one showed a promising start, the Eagles taking it 25-21. Set two was close, but from then on the Bluejays easily overwhelmed the Eagles to take the game 3-1.

Autumn Jackson led the team with nine kills, one ace serve, three blocks, five digs and three set assists; Olivia Young had six kills, one block and nine digs; Bergyn Classen six kills; Ashley Sidak four kills and three digs; Mariah Kallhoff four kills; Hannah Hilker three kills, one ace serve, one block, 10 digs and 27 set assists; Taylor Young three kills and three blocks; Serena Chavez  eight kills and two set assists; Madalynn Kellum seven digs and one set assist; and Taylor Staroscik five digs.

Shortly after, the girls would compete in the Mid-States Conference, starting off against Ponca.

It was a fierce competition from the opening, with the Eagles just barely managing the win in sets one and two by just a couple points. In the end, the Eagles had the clear advantage and moved on from the Ponca Indians.

The following day, Tuesday, Oct. 22, the girls had another close match-up with the Boone Central Cardinals. This was a very back-and-forth battle between the two teams. Victories would come down to just a couple points difference. When it came down to it, though, the Eagles had the advantage and managed another win to their name.

O. Young was the MVP with 13 kills, two ace serves, one block, 13 digs and two set assists; Sidak had 11 kills, two ace serves and eight digs; Classen 11 kills, one block and four digs; Jackson nine kills, four ace serves, one block, seven digs and two set assists; T. Young seven kills and three digs; Hilker four kills, six ace serves, one block, 22 digs and 39 set assists; Chavez one kill, 15 digs and six set assists; Kellum one ace serve and seven digs; and Staroscik five digs and one set assist.

Two days later the Eagles were set to face GACC for the fifth place match. This would be another well-fought close match-up, but the Eagles would be overpowered 3-1.

In the fight against GACC, Classen had 14 kills, three blocks and one dig; T. Young had nine kills, three blocks and two digs; Jackson seven kills and three blocks; O. Young six kills, three ace serves, one block and 16 digs; Sidak three kills and five digs; Hilker two kills, five ace serves, two blocks, 11 digs and 39 set assists; Chavez one kill, 18 digs and one set assist; Kallhoff one kill; Staroscik five digs; and Kellum three digs and one set assist.
