Eagles Host Invitational

Sept. 16th the O'Neill Eagles hosted their own cross country invitational. 14 schools came to compete at the invitational. 

Starting the day was varsity Lady a. The Lady Eagles placed fourth overall as a team. Three Lady Eagles medaled. Freshman Taya Dickau led the Eagles with a third place finish. Junior Ashley Dickau placed 13th and Yoselin Cayax 15th. Rounding out the varsity team was 21st, Mollie Corkle 22nd and Hailey Romesser 24th. 

The varsity boys team placed fourth overall. Leading the boys' team and medaling was sophomore Trevor Alder placing 13th. Rest of the varsity placed as followed: Mikah Raymond 18th, Kullen Cartella 19th, Elijah Kopecky 27th, Logan Bradshaw 42nd and Gus Laible 47th. 

Both the junior varsity girls and boys also competed. Girls placed second as a team. Medaling for the Lady Junior Varsity Eagles were Giovanna Aguilar sixth, Cyrise Brown eighth and Bethany Owens ninth. Other junior varsity runners were Paola Vergara 11th and Kassy Espinoza 12th. 

Junior varsity boys won their division. Medalists were Eden Calvo second, Tomas Arciniego third, Kyler Dean fifth, Tyler Diediker seventh, Brayden Romesser ninth and Carter Hickey 10th. 

“We came out more aggressive on the first 1000 of the race on Friday. I thought we saw improvement,” said Coach Hilker.

The junior high also competed. The girls team placed fifth. The following runners placed as followed: Addison Zuraff 17th, Savannah Gallagher 30th, Grace Mitchell 31st, Emma French 32nd and Ezmeralda Bosch 36th. 

The boys team placed second in their division. The Eagles had three medalists. They were Nate Brown second, Max Berg fourth and Evan Cole 13th. The rest of the team placed accordingly: Alex Otte 16th, Ethan Sukup 21st, Cooper Cole 22nd, Sawyer Strong 33rd, Zach Buller 34th, Gavin Kruse 40th, Liam Kennedy 44th, Alex Nelson 48th and Kaleb Asche 50th.

The Eagles had this week off to train but will run at UNK on Sept. 26th, and the West Holt Invitational on Sept. 29th.
