Last week the O'Neill Eagle Cross Country Team competed at the West Holt Cross Country Invitational. The Eagles competed against nineteen schools. The boys team ran first and placed seventh as a team. The boys team medaled two runners. Sophomore Trevor Alder placed 16th, and senior Kullen Cartella placed 20th. The other team members placed accordingly: Elijah Kopecky 34th, Gus Laible 40th, Tomas Arciniego 46th, Logan Bradshaw 51st, Kyler Dean 56th, Mikah Raymond 58th, Brandon Romero 62nd, Tyler Diediker 67th, Eden Calvo 73rd, Caleb Laursen 77th, Josue Jimenez 86th, Isaac Sunum 87th, Ashton Burival 88th, Luke Wilson 90th, and Grant Dusatko 95th. The girls team placed runner-up, nine points behind Ainsworth who won it with twelve points. The Eagles medaled three runners: Taya Dickau 3rd, Ashley Dickau 6th, and Yoselin Cayax 14th. The rest of the team places were Nahomi Sunum 25th, Hailey Romesser 27th, Giovanna Aguilar 45th, Cyrise Brown 50th, and Paola Vergara 54th. “Team ran well, we are getting better every meet. That's what you want for the team,” said Coach Hilker. The junior high team competed as well at the meet. The girls team placed 6th, and the boys team won it. The Junior High Eagles medaled two athletes: Nate Brown 2nd and Max Berg 3rd. In the girls race Addison Zuraff placed 23rd, Emma French 40th, Savannah Gallagher 41st, Ezmeralda Bosch 45th, Grace Mitchell 46th, and Addie Zigler 50th. The junior High boys were Evan Cole 16th, Ethan Sukup 19th, Cooper Cole 29th, Gavin Kruse 39th, Zach Buller 41st, Sawyer Strong 43rd, Liam Kennedy 43rd, Alex Nelson 57th, and Caleb Asche 59th. Eagles Cross Country Finish Regular Season The O'Neill Eagles finished their regular season at the Mid-States Conference meet, hosted by Wayne. Eight teams competed in the conference meet. The boys' team started the meet. The varsity team placed 6th. Trevor Alder medaled with a 15th place finish. Competing in the varsity division were Kullen Cartella 19th, Elijah Kopecky 31st, Gus Laible 35th, Logan Bradshaw 39th, and Tomas Arciniego 40th. In the junior varsity division runners were Brandon Romero 10th, Kyler Dean 12th, Tyler Diediker 16th, Eden Calvo 17th, Carter Hickey 18th, Caleb Laursen 20th, Brayden Romesser 22nd, Isaac Sunum 27th, Ashten Burival 28th, and Grant Dusatko 30th. The girls team placed 3rd overall. Freshman Taya Dickau placed 3rd overall earning a medal. Junior Ashley Dickau placed 13th placing in the top fifteen, medaling. The rest of the varsity team were Yoselin Cayax 21st, Nahomi Sunum 24th, Mollie Corkle 26th, and Hailey Romesser 27th. Junior varsity runners were Giovanna Aguilar 7th, Cyrise Brown 10th, Paola Vergara 12th, and Kassy Espinoza 13th. This week the team will compete at the C-3 districts hosted by Pierce, Oct. 13. Boys race will start at 4:30 p.m. and girls race at 5:10 p.m. The meet will be at the Pierce Country Club.
