Last week was the O'Neill Eagles chance to get some wins to their name after getting sunk the previous week. They competed in a triangular at Broken Bow against the host and Alliance last Tuesday, Sept. 30. They battled the Alliance Bulldogs in the first match. The Bulldogs put up a good fight, but the Eagles stayed ahead of the game the whole way through. The Eagles took the match 2-0; 25-22 & 25-20. Autumn Jackson took the top spot with six kills and one dig; Bergyn Classen was close behind with six kills; Mariah Kallhoff had four kills, one block and three digs; Blakely Sudbeck had three kills and one dig; Hannah Hilker had two kills, three ace serves, one block, five digs and 19 set assists; Mia Lindsay had one kill and two blocks; Hailey Fick had three ace serves and three digs; Serena Chavez had four digs and one set assist; and Madelynn Kellum had one dig. Later, the Eagles faced the host, Broken Bow, to round out the night. They fumbled in the opener, with the Indians pulling ahead 25-10. In the second set, the Eagles flipped things in their favor. It came down to a tie-breaker, and the Indians came back with the energy from the start. The Eagles were forced to admit defeat 2-1; 25-10, 22-25 & 25-15. Classen was the MVP with six kills, two blocks and six digs; Sudbeck had six kills and four digs; Kallhoff had five kills, two set assists and four digs; Jackson had five kills, one block and nine digs; Lindsay had one kill, three blocks and one dig; Chavez had 10 digs and three set assists; Fick and Kellum had four digs; and Raegan Kaufman had three digs. The girl's season record echoes the week's matches, resting now at a 10-10 split.
