Eagles 3-0 After Win Over Ord

The Ord Chanticleers came to O'Neill last Friday, and the Eagles won over the Chants 20-14.

"This last Friday, our Eagles faced a tough Ord team that fought to the wire!  At halftime, the Chanticleers were ahead 14-6.  At halftime, we talked about making a change in the way we're going to attack the game and made some adjustments to our schemes.  We are very proud of the way our kids responded and reacted to the second half.  Our players took control of the game and "Willed" the outcome in the 4th quarter! I couldn't be more happy with this group of men!" Said Coach Brock Eichelberger.

Ord scored first in the match, followed by the Eagle's Grady Welke. The Eagles missed the PAT and trailed by one. The Chants scored in the second and held a 14-6 lead going into the half. The Eagle's Brady Eichelberger took in another six points and trailed by two at the end of the third. The Eagle's saving grace was when Turner Heiss hit Weston Kohl on a 20-yard touchdown pass for the Homecoming victory in the fourth.

The Eagles and the Chants stats were similar. Both squads ran 61 plays and had eight penalties, although the Chant's penalties were for 30 yards, while the Eagles were penalized 68 yards. The Eagles had a total of 208 yards, rushing for 77 yards and passing for 131 yards.

Brady Eichelberger led the Eagles with 13 carries for 53 yards and one touchdown; Westen Kohl one Carrie for 20 yards; Heiss 11 carries for 18 yards; Porter Mathews eight carries for 16 yards, and Grady Welke eight carries for seven yards and one touchdown.

Porter Mathews led the Eagle receivers with two catches for 50 yards; Pryor Mathews had one for 30 yards. Brady Eichelberger had three catches for eight yards, and Westen Kohl had one catch for seven yards and one touchdown.

Leading the Eagle defense was Welke with seven tackles; Porter Mathews with four tackles; Pryor Mathews and Reese Grosch with three tackles; Westen Kohl, Noah Manchester, Brody Jakubowski, and Ian Yates with two tackles each; Turner Heiss, Brady Eichelberger, Nate Brown, Tucker Anderson, Cort Chohon and Charlie Morrow each with one tackle. Heiss had one interception, and Grosch had one blocked punt.

The Eagles will travel to Ponca on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. game.
