Darwin "Darb" Gene Dye, 62, of O'Neill, died Monday, March 4, 2024 in O'Neill.

Visitation was held Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Word of Life Christian Center in O'Neill. Rev. Jim Loutzenhiser officiated.

Burial will be held at a later date in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery north of O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Darwin was born Oct. 20, 1961, to Cline and Ruth (Hockett) Dye in Lynch. Darwin and his family lived by Gross, and later moved into Butte. He attended Butte High School through 10th grade and started work at S & S Trailers in Butte as a welder. Later in life, Darb found a passion for trucking and continued this throughout his life.

Darb met Deborah Harvey on a double date, and the couple later married on Aug. 16, 1980, at Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill. The couple lived in Giddings, Texas, followed by Oakdale before settling in O'Neill. To this union five daughters were born Misty, Nikie, Shirley, Ashley and Kacey. The couple established D & D trucking together, which filled both their passions for trucking.

Darb enjoyed spending time tinkering and working on things in his workshop. He had a love for fishing, especially cat fishing. Darb also enjoyed playing pool, hunting, camping and spending time with his family. The pride and love he had for his grandchildren was unmeasurable.

Anyone who got to know Darb quickly found he had a heart of gold. Darb and Debbie had many "adopted" children and grandchildren who continued to grow their family.

Darb was a member of the Word of Life Christian Center.

Darb is survived by his wife of 43 years Debbie Dye of O'Neill; five daughters Misty (Richard) Ollendick of Crofton, Nikie Dye of O'Neill, Shirley (Charles Jr.) Hansen of O'Neill, Ashley (Jake) Gonzalez of Central City and Kacey (Marcus) Ollendick of O'Neill; his dog Blu of O'Neill; 13 grandchildren Trixie, Luna, Gerdie, Rayonna, Charlie, Clayton, Alexa, Keleigh, Jacob, Esperanza, Kayden, Ella and Mack; two brothers Don (Sandra) Dye of Imperial and Duane (Sherry) Dye of Kearney; three sisters Pat (Gordon Swanson) Dye of Bristow, Nancy (Bruce) Anderson of Norfolk and Donna Dye of Creighton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an unborn child Kyle Cline Dye; granddog Harley Jo; three siblings Richard Dye, James Dye and Wayne Dye; and two nephews Brad Dye and Darren Dye.
