Charles lived his whole life in the Green Valley area southwest of Atkinson. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Chucks' passions revolved around his family, ranching, farming and deer hunting. After graduating high school he joined his dad in the ranching business and many a morning he would be headed to the Dora Lake pasture on his horse Skeeter as the sun was coming up over the horizon. Dad and grandpa employed many young men in the summer time to help with the haying. Years later after growing his "own" hay crew, many of the former hay crew workers would come back just to visit, testifying to the admiration they had for him.

In the winter of 48-49 Chuck and his father rode horses to town in the deep snow  to pick up a new International crawler. They had a barge box made with ski runners and pulled it home loaded, with the horses trailing behind, loaded with  mail and groceries for the neighbors to come and get.

After meeting and later marrying the love of his life Wilma while roller skating, they resided with his  parents  while their house was being built. Chuck was proud of his six children and their spouses.

Chuck served as a leader of the Holt Creek 4-H club and was very proud of his children showing their Herford cattle winning many awards with them.

He served on the Green Valley Township board, West Holt School Board and District 77 School Board. Chuck was a member of the Methodist Church and served on various committees throughout the years. He also helped establish and build the Atkinson Rodeo grounds and was always ready to help anyone in need.

In later years Chuck enjoyed working at the Atkinson and O'Neill Livestock  Markets as well as helping the Tasler Auction Service.

Chuck will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.

Chuck is survived by his wife Wilma of Atkinson; five children Suzanne (Richard) Schrunk of Emmet, Chris (John) Vogel of Atkinson, Charles Jr. (Mary) of LaPorte City, Iowa, Nancy (Bob) Weber and Tom (Ana) Tasler, all of Atkinson; one daughter-in-law Diane Tasler of Atkinson; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one sister Delores Addison of Atkinson,

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Mike and an infant brother.
