The St. Mary's Cardinals traveled to Niobrara for their second game of the season last Friday. The Cards had a tough time falling to the Cougars 54-14. The Cards were out scored 14-6 in the first quarter but a 49-yard pass from Kyle Regan to Kyle Pardun put the Cards back in the running down by eight. The Cards took a beating in the second quarter with the Cougars scoring 22 unanswered points going into the half 36-6. The Cards came out in the third quarter and when Jared Tomjack scored for the Cards and Regan threw to Zach Novak for the two-point conversion. The Cougars only points in the third came on a safety on the punter. The Cougars added 16 more points in the fourth quarter for a 40-point win over the Cards. St. Mary's is now 0-2 and Niobrara/Verdigre is 2-0.
