The St. Mary's Cardinals shattered any thought the EPPJ Wolfpack had of spoiling the Cardinals' homecoming last Friday in O'Neill. The Cards held the Wolfpack to 132 yards total offense with 111 yards on the ground and 21 yards from the air. EPPJ ran 46 plays with five first downs and had three penalties for 20 yards. The Cards had 412 yards of offense with 231 yards on the ground and 181 yards from passing. The Cards ran 61 plays for 26 first downs and had seven penalties for 45 yards. The Cards had 49 unanswered points in the first half. The Cards used all their weapons. Gage Hedstrom got the match moving when he scored a 14-yard touchdown run in the first. Hedstrom threw a 24-yard touchdown pass and brought in the conversion to put the Cards up by 14 in the next series. The final score of the 1st quarter was a one-yard touchdown by Hedstrom to put the Cards up 20-0 in the first. Hedstrom ran in one touchdown in the second. Keigan Couch ran in the next score after the Cardinals drove deep into the Wolfpack territory with a one-yard touchdown. Hedstrom hit Ben Pongratz on a 15-yard touchdown as well as James Eby on a six-yard touchdown. Barlow caught four conversion points for the Cards to lead at the half with a 49-point lead. The Third quarter saw the Cards ease off, letting the bench play as well as a lineman get in on the action when Dalton Herley caught a 33-yard touchdown. EPPJ got its only score of the game on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Karson Kallhoff to Max Henn. The final score of the game in the fourth was a one-yard touchdown by Myles Hamilton, with Couch bringing in the conversion. Hedstrom led the Cards with 14 carries for 102 yards and three touchdowns, Gage threw 23 times for 16 completions; Couch had 15 carries for 81 yards and one touchdown; Connor Banks had three carries for 26 yards; Barlow one carry for eight yards; Memphis Brabec one carry for five yards; Zane Cole one carry for five yards; and Hamilton one carry for one yard and one touchdown. Barlow led the Cardinal receivers with six catches for 47 yards; Logan Brabec three catches for 34 yards and one touchdown; Herley one catch for 33 yards and one touchdown; Eby two catches for 23 yards and one touchdown; Lane Bybee one catch for 15 yards; Pongratz one catch for 15 yards and one touchdown; Drake Berg one catch for eight yards; and Connor Banks one catch for five yards. Hedstrom led the defense with 10 tackles, Berg and Bybee had seven tackles each; Barlow, Connor Banks, Pongratz and Eli Banks each had six tackles; Couch had five tackles; Ruger Kraft had four tackles; Cole, Herley and John Mlnarik each had three tackles; Hamilton had two tackles; and Zane Cole, Eby, Memphis Brabec, Kolton Lavicky, and Remington Risinger each had one tackle. The Cards are now 6-0 and will travel West to face North Central this week.
