Atkinson — Bonnie Lee Friesen, 83, of Atkinson, formerly of Chambers, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Atkinson. Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atkinson. Rev. Lief Hasskarl will officiate. Burial will be in the Chambers Cemetery in Chambers. Memorials may be made to the Chambers American Legion Auxiliary Post 320 or Atkinson Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in Bonnie's name. Bonnie was born on June 22, 1942 in O'Neill, to Leonard and Adele (Meyer) Peterson. She grew up in Chambers and attended Chambers High School. After high school Bonnie worked various jobs, she moved to Henderson where she worked for the Town House as a waitress for several years. Bonnie then worked as a sales person for the plastic factory in Alda before moving to Aurora where she managed the kitchen at the Motor Inn and worked construction for Ken Wortman. Bonnie married Garry Friesen on April 12, 1991 in Aurora. She managed the Friesen Campground in Henderson before moving back to the Chambers area to retire. She was a member of the Chambers American Legion Auxiliary Post 320. She enjoyed gardening, hunting and putting puzzles together. Bonnie is survived by her three children Bud (Linda) Sanderson of O'Neill, Leonard (Christine) Sanderson of Eustace, Texas and Tony (Susan) Sanderson of Chambers; and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Leonard and Adele Peterson, two brothers Merel Peterson and Wayne Peterson, one sister Norma Pavlis and her husband Garry Friesen in 2006.
