Barbara "Barb" R. Svatos

Wisner — Barbara "Barb" Rose Svatos, 76, of Wisner, formerly of Lynch, Atkinson, Chambers and Ewing, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 at CHI-Bryan East in Lincoln.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Burial will be in the Wisner Cemetery in Wisner at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Barbara was born on Oct. 28, 1948 at Lynch to Gordon and Clarabell (Eckelberry) Keller. She went on to graduate from Spencer High School.  

Barb worked as a waitress and bartender and drove truck for several years.

  On Sept. 9, 1978, she was united in marriage to David Svatos at the Wesleyan Church in Spencer. The family lived in Schuyler, Atkinson and Chambers before settling in Ewing.  In 1998, they moved to Wisner.  

Barb worked for Nielsen Oil and Propane and also helped operate Wisner Public Scale. She was also an Avon Representative for a number of years.

  Barb enjoyed reading, attending garage sales and second-hand stores and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Barb could talk to anyone and never met a stranger.

Barb is survived by two sons Shane (Kim) Svatos of Norfolk and their daughter Brooklynn Svatos; and Jeremy (Jennie) Svatos of Greeley, Iowa and their family Drew Dearmont, Clark Saylor, Chris Bush, Dylan Neuhaus, Megan Ellison, Alex Ellison and Carter Ellison; and two daughters Amanda Svatos of Wisner and her daughter Jordan Wegner; and Erin (Rich) McAuliffe of York and their family Marcus Vrba, Connor Vrba, Adalynn Vrba, Nathan McAuliffe, Macy McAuliffe, Caleb McAuliffe and Journey McAuliffe

She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Svatos, two brothers Ed Tate and John Tate, one daughter-in-law Peggy Svatos and one granddaughter Annabell Svatos.
