Avera Has New Interim CEO

Oct 19, 2022 (0)

O'NEILL– Avera is pleased to announce that Kayleen Lee is serving as the interim CEO of Avera St. Anthony's Hospital. She began her tenure in early Oct.

Lee will fill the role as the search is underway for a permanent replacement. The new CEO will oversee operations at both Avera St. Anthony's Hospital and Avera Creighton Hospital.

Lee has a wealth of rural critical access hospital leadership. She served as CEO at Avera Weskota Memorial Hospital in Wessington Springs, S.D., and Sioux Center Health, an Avera partner, in Sioux Center, Iowa. She was also an interim CEO at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa.

“The employees and providers at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital have been very gracious in welcoming me to the organization and the community,” Lee said. “I've been impressed with the dedication and compassion I have seen and look forward to collaborating with the team here to continue providing high-quality health care to O'Neill and the surrounding area. It is an honor to help them through this time of transition.”

Doug Ekeren, regional president and CEO for the Avera Sacred Heart region, which includes Avera St. Anthony's Hospital, said he is grateful to Lee for providing interim leadership.

“I've known Kayleen for many years and know how much skill and heart she puts into her involvement with health care,” he said. “I know our O'Neill team is in good hands and that, even though she is only there on an interim basis, will work hard to move the organization forward.”
