Audrey L. Atkins

Norfolk — Audrey L. Atkins, 86, of Norfolk, formerly of O'Neill, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024.

Private visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.

Private graveside services were held Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Peru.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Audrey was born on Feb.  4th, 1938 to Lawrence and Gladys Prickett. Audrey grew up in Lyman. She attended and graduated Lyman High School in 1956. 

After high school she moved to Denver, CO where she attended one year of Parks School of Business. 

She then moved to Scottsbluff where she married Richard Atkins on June 14th, 1957. Richard and Audrey lived in Gering and Cozad before settling down in O'Neill in 1966. Audrey would remain in O'Neill till 2023 before moving to Norfolk. 

Audrey loved to read, cook and send family newspaper clippings. Audrey was very devoted to her church in O'Neill. She also loved the holidays especially Christmas and made sure everyone had a good time. 

Audrey is survived by her two sons Scott Atkins of Grand Island and Randy (Kim) Atkins of Pierce, one daughter-in-law Denice Atkins of O'Neill, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters Judy Rein and Ellen Jane Ellwanger and one brother-in-law Tom Atkins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, one son Russ, parents Lawrence and Glayds Prickett, one sister Ardis Prickett and an infant sister Sharon.
