Fremont — Anna M. Porter, 84, or Fremont, died Monday, March 25, 2024 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with a rosary.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the chapel in Fremont.

Burial was in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Anna was born May 14, 1939 at O'Neill to Robert and Mary (Maly) Gartner. 

Ann grew up in Chambers and attended Chambers High School.  

In 1955 she married Charles Porter Jr. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. They lived in O'Neill and Atkinson prior to moving to Fremont in 1960.  

She owned Ann's Bookkeeping and Tax Service in Fremont for 50 years.  

Ann was a longtime member of the Fremont Eagles Auxiliary, Fremont Women Bowlers, the 600 Club at Nationals in 1971, former member of the Fremont Airboat Auxiliary,and member of the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce.  

She golfed at Whitetail Run Golf Club until they closed. 

Ann is survived by her husband Charles Porter Jr. of Fremont; one son Mark (Susie) Porter of Honey Creek, Iowa; four daughters Barbara (Bill) Karr of Shakopee, MN, Connie (Don) Mahrt, Bonnie (Jeff) Sherwood and JoAnn (Gene) Baker, all of Fremont; one brother Robert Gartner of Chambers; one sister Betty Watson of O'Neill; two brothers-in-law Larry (Helen) Porter and Danny Porter, both of Fremont; one sister-in-law Joan Porter of Fremont; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Mary Lou Butts; three brothers Robert, Donald and Leslie Gartner; mother- and father-in-law Charles and Thelma Porter; two brothers-in-law Robert and Richard Porter; and seven other in-laws.
