CASA DONATION - Country Bliss Flooring made a donation to CASA. Monica Huber, CASA Director, accepted the check from owners Mike and Deb Parks.

Donations have been received by CASA of Elkhorn Valley.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mike and Deb Parks of Country Bliss Flooring for their generous monetary donation to CASA of Elkhorn Valley. This donation will be specifically used to procure essential supplies, tools, and resources for our volunteers, enabling them to support the children they represent.

In addition to the previously mentioned donations, CASA has recently received a donation of $9,500 from The Norfolk Area United Way, $10,500 from the Holt County Supervisors, and $32,000 from the Madison County Commissioners. Additionally, a $1,000 monetary donation was received from the O'Neill Rotary Club, a sign and digital marketing grant was approved by the Holt County Economic Development Office, and several personal donations were received from generous residents of Holt County and surrounding communities. Furthermore, donations of supplies, products, and services have been received to equip our organization with the necessary resources to provide comfort and consistency for the children we represent.

There has been considerable discussion within the community regarding CASA of Elkhorn Valley in O'Neill and our mission. We hope that our work is now widely recognized. For those who may not be familiar, here is a brief overview:

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Since its inception by a juvenile court judge in Seattle, Washington, CASA has evolved into one of the most impactful advocacy programs of its kind. Currently, there are nearly 950 CASA programs operating across 49 states. With nearly 100,000 volunteers nationwide, we are united in our commitment to safeguarding the rights of every child within the foster care and child welfare systems.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate is a member of the community. We provide specialized training to our volunteers, empowering them to advocate in court for the best interests of children involved in Nebraska's child welfare system. CASA Volunteers are assigned to a child for the duration of their case. The average time spent in care is two years, during which these children may experience multiple residential changes, often three times. This underscores the vital importance of CASA Volunteer work.

Each move presents new foster parents or kinship placements, and often a new school. CASA Volunteers frequently become the sole consistent adult presence in a child's life. Our volunteers not only advocate for safe housing but also for educational and mental health resources. Because child welfare systems are often overwhelmed, CASA Volunteers are typically the only adults who provide meaningful, sustained support in a child's life.

The mission of CASA of Elkhorn Valley is to train, empower, and inspire Volunteer Advocates to represent children in court who have experienced abuse or neglect, and to ensure they are safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive.

If you feel called to volunteer or wish to make a donation to CASA of Elkhorn Valley, please submit all application requests or donations to 115 N 5th St, Ste 1, O'Neill, NE 68763, email mhuber@elkhornvalleycasa.org, or call 402.340.3185.
