This year as part of Summerfest Entertainment, the Rodeo Committee will host Wiener Dog Races during the Saturday, July 19, intermission. Participants must be a Dachshund; they don't have to be AKC registered. Officials have the right to disqualify if there is a question about the breed. All dogs must be on a leash. Dogs should be on their best behavior. No fighting, biting, or aggressive behavior will be tolerated, as contestants may be disqualified. Two humans are required for each wiener dog entered. One contestant will hold the dog at the start of the race and the other at the finish line. Dogs must start with paws on the ground, behind the start line. No throwing your wiener at any time during the race. Humans at the finish line must remain entirely behind the designated line until all dogs have crossed the finish line. Participants must have all four paws over the line to qualify as a winning wiener. Humans can use toys, treats, balls, or stuffed animals to entice their dogs. All of the treats and enticements must remain with the handler behind the finish line. All weens must have a valid rabies vaccine record or a dog tag stating the same.
