Last week was busy for the St. Mary's Lady Cardinals, visiting two schools and hosting another. The girls kicked the week off Tuesday against Cedar Catholic. Both teams had trouble getting past each other. The Cards took an early five-point, followed by a 16-8 comeback from the Trojans. Another quarter went to the opposition, and it was down to the wire. The Cards battled for survival and managed to clutch a 20-11 finale to take back the match. Adyson Peterson put up 15 points, three rebounds and one steal; Emerson Mlnarik had 10 points, four rebounds and two steals; Pyper Ickes eight points, seven rebounds and one steal; Gracie Williamson seven points, five rebounds and five steals and Annabelle Barlow five points, four rebounds and two steals. They came out with a fire and led 41-11 by halftime. The Cards had the match in the bag, but they continued to lay on the pressure with a 14-5 third quarter. A fumbled finale allowed the Wildcats an 8-6 win but a 61-24 loss overall. Williamson led with 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals; Barlow had 16 points, three rebounds and four steals; Adyson Peterson 13 points, five rebounds and two steals; Mlnarik seven points, four rebounds and two steals; Ickes five points, six rebounds and two steals; Lily Bauer one point, one rebound and one steal; Loretta Scofield two rebounds and four steals and Olivia Bauer one steal. A further push gave the girls a clean sweep to end the week's play satisfactorily. Williamson had a big game with 24 points, seven rebounds and three steals; Ickes had 16 points, four rebounds and four steals; Peterson 11 points, three rebounds and one steal; Barlow six points, seven rebounds and eight steals; Mlnarik three points, four rebounds and five steals; Bauer two points and one rebound and Scofield one rebound.
