Eagles Win Over Knights

OHS (3) BRADY EICHELBERGER goes up for a shot against a tough North Central defense in Saturday's game in O'Neill.

The O'Neill Eagles hosted their home Holiday Tournament this past Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Eagles faced the St. Paul Wildcats and stumbled 54-49. On Saturday, the Eagles got a solid victory over the North Central Knights, winning 63-44.

The Eagles again had second-half trouble in their loss to St. Paul. The Eagles kept pace with the Wildcats through the first half, trailing only by four at the half. The Eagles had bad luck, as they only got two points in the third and let the Wildcats rack up 16 unanswered points. The Eagles got their feet under them in the fourth, scoring 19 points, while the Wildcats put up four.

Turner Heiss led the Eagles with 11 points, two rebounds and one steal; Ryder Kelly had nine points, two rebounds and three steals; Trevor Alder also had nine points, two rebounds and three steals; Brady Eichelberger had six points Porter Mathews had five points, five rebounds and three steals; Caleb Laursen five points and two rebounds; Braxton Eichelberger two points and one rebound; and Jackson Larsen two points.

On Saturday, the Eagles downed North Central 63-44. The Eagles' quick-paced offense got the lead early, with the Knights keeping close pace. It was a two-point lead for the Eagles going into the second quarter. The Eagles poured on the points in the second, nearly doubling their lead before going into the half 32-22.

The Knights held on but were unable to make up the first-quarter losses.

Heiss had a huge game, racking up 27 points and had eight rebounds and four steals; Mathews had 10 points, 10 rebounds and one steal; Brady Eichelberger had eight points, nine rebounds and one steal; Alder had six rebounds and one steal; Westen Kohl had six points, one rebound and two steals; Braxten Eichelberger two points and two rebounds; Larsen two points and two rebounds.
