O'Neill Eagle Girls End Week 2-1

The O'Neill Eagle girls hosted three matches last week, and were taken down in two. 

Tuesday, Oct. 15 Battle Creek visited for a conference match and took out the Eagles 3-1.

The opener gave the Eagles a strong start to the week, taking it 25-18. Unfortunately for the girls, the rest of the game was a downhill fight. They were all close, with just a few points difference, but the Braves still managed to overtake the Eagles.

Olivia Young led against Battle Creek with 11 kills, one block, 11 digs and two set assists; Ashley Sidak  had 11 kills and 10 digs; Autumn Jackson nine kills, one ace serve, 10 digs and two set assists; Taylor Young eight kill and three digs; Bergyn Classen six kills, two digs and one set assist; Hannah Hilker three kills, five ace serves, one block, 15 digs and 38 set assists; Madalynn Kellum one ace serve, seven digs and one set assist; Serena Chavez 17 digs and one set assist and Taylor Staroscik seven digs and one set assist.

Two days later the Eagles hosted Norfolk Catholic for another conference match-up. This game was much of the same story as the previous.

Both teams showed some strong offense and defense, with the Eagles faltering by just two points in both sets.

O. Young was again top scorer against Norfolk Catholic with eight kills and four digs; Sidak had seven kills, one block and six digs; Jackson five kills, one block and two digs; T. Young three kills and one dig; Classen two kills and two digs; Hilker one ace serve, four digs and 24 set assists; Chavez nine digs and Staroscik and Kellum both five digs each.

Later that same day the Eagles hosted their last opponent of the week. It would be Neligh-Oakdale and the Eagles would finally catch a break.

From the start the Eagles made a strong impression, allowing the Warriors only 12 points. The following set was another solid win for the Eagles, giving them a win to end off the week.

Sidak was MVP with nine kills and two digs; O. Young five kills and  four digs; T. Young five kills and one dig; Classen two kills; Jackson one kill, one ace serve, one block and two digs; Hilker one kill, one ace serve, five digs and 23 set assists; Mariah Kallhoff one kill; Kellum eight digs; Staroscik seven digs and one set assist; Chavez six digs and Mia Lindsay one dig.

These games bring the Eagles' record to 9-18 so far.
