Saturday, Oct. 12 the O'Neill Junior High Cross Country Team competed in Nebraska Junior High School Championships at Papillion South High School. There were 77 schools that competed at the meet. Both O'Neill junior high girls and boys team competed in the open division. In the girl's open division 68 teams competed, with a total of 265 runners. The O'Neill Junior High Girls didn't field a full team so no team score was given. Kiarra Kennedy was the individual gold medal champion. Jailynn Romesser placed 78th, Taylee Wade 89th and Lynn Miner 125th. The O'Neill Boys competed well, and ran their best races of the year, the team placed runner-up out of 31 teams. Placing second overall out of 374 runners and earning the silver medal was Alonso Hernandez. Rest of the team that received the runner-up team placing were Jordani Perez 26th, Angel Sanchez 31st, Tyson Becker 33rd and Kyler Strong 66th. “We are proud of their efforts. O'Neill Cross Country has a bright future,” said Coach Hilker.
