Eagles 8-16 On VB Season

Last week was a marathon for the Lady Eagles, facing five opponents over five days. Unfortunately for the girls, these games didn't do much for their lacking score this season. 

First up against the Eagles was Summerland, last Tuesday. From the start the Bobcats took an early lead, leaving the Eagles behind 25-14. The next two sets the girls adapted and improved their play, but the Bobcats still overpowered the Eagles 3-0 by the end. 

Ashley Sidak led the team with eight kills and nine digs; Autumn Jackson had eight kills and three digs; Olivia Young had six kills, two blocks and six digs; Bergyn Classen had three kills, one block, four digs and one set assist; Taylor Young had two kills, three blocks and one dig; Hannah Hilker had one kill, two ace serves, one block, 15 digs and 24 set assists; Serena Chavez had one kill, 11 digs and one set assist; Madalynn Kellum had eight digs; and Taylor Staroscik two digs and one set assist.

Two days later the Eagles were at it again, this time they hosted Pierce. Things weren't looking too hot for the Eagles at the start, falling 25-15. Like their previous match, the Eagles quickly adjusted but were still outplayed 3-0.

T. Young led with nine kills; Jackson had eight kills and one dig; Sidak had five kills and two digs; O. Young had four kills, four ace serves  and 10 digs; Hilker had one kill, seven digs and 25 set assists; Classen had one kill and two digs; Mariah Kallhoff had one kill; Starsocik had six digs; Chavez had five digs and one set assist; and Kellum five digs.

After another short break the girls visited Wisner and shot them down 2-1 in their own court. The opening set was a hard-fought one, with the Eagles ultimately pulling ahead 25-22. The Gators were still clearly in the match, as in set two they dominated the Eagles 25-14 to even out the game. The whole match was on the line now, and both teams put their all forward. The Eagles pushed ahead and narrowly clutched the 25-22 win to take the game.

O. Young led the Eagles to victory with nine kills; Jackson had eight kills; T. Young and Sidak had seven kills each; Classen had five kills; and Hilker three kills.

After taking down Wisner-Pilger, the Eagle girls went to Tournament play. Up first were the Wynot Blue Devils, who entered with a record of 11-7. 

This, like most of the week's matches, was a close one. Both teams came out scoring in the first, but the Blue Devils managed to nudge out a 25-22 victory over the Eagles. Now determined more than ever, the Blue Devils played fierce, allowing them a quicker 25-19 takedown. 

The Eagles had another chance to prove themselves when they challenged the Douglas County West Falcons, who entered the fray with a record of 13-11. 

The Falcons came out hot, taking the early lead 25-19. Set two was the Eagles' last opportunity to turn things around. They would put up a good fight, but in the end it would not be enough to put a stop to the Falcons.

Some of the games came close, but the Eagles just weren't able to scale some of their opponents. 

The Eagles sit at an 8-16 record for the season.
