Holt County Department of Weeds Proceedings (08-01-2024)

July 11, 2024

The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session. This meeting publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943 Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication on radio station KBRX as shown by Affidavit of Publication on July 8, 2024. Dan Pribil convened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster.

Present: Tom Welsh, Dan Pribil, Dan Drueke, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke. 

Excused: Kevin DeKay and John Hammerlun

Minutes Approved: Tom Welsh made a motion to approve the minutes and Dan Drueke seconded. All approved

Claims Approved: Dustin Breiner made a motion to approve the claims and Tom Welsh seconded. All approved.

Old Business: Tin for the shop.  The side walls are completed by Dan Ruda. All repairs were made with installation. The doors remain to be installed.

New Business: Inspections were reviewed. One 10 day force spray was enforced, total of $5,324.10 was billed.

Leafy Spurge Working Task Force tour was held in Dawes and Sheridan Counties. Test plot on Leafy Spurge with Quinstar. Other test plots with Rejurva on annual grasses (cheat grass), after application good results for multiple years have been accomplished.  

Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.

Next meeting August 8, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Holt County Weed Office.

Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Tom Welsh seconded. All approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
