The St. Mary's Cardinals had little trouble last week when they hosted Elgin/Pope John Friday, Feb. 16 and sent them packing 55-42. Quarter one was a major Cardinal win, taking it 14-4 for an early lead. The next gave the Wolfpack a much needed boost, bringing the score to 26-20, still in the Card's favor. Any hope the Wolfpack had at victory was thrown away in quarter three when they fumbled 19-8. The final saw the Wolfpack give one last stride for the win, taking it 14-10. This wasn't enough, however, and the Cardinals took the win 55-42. Gage Hedstrom played well, scoring 20 points, shooting four of eight three-pointers and three of nine two-pointers. Hedstrom also had six rebounds and two steals; Ben Barlow was close behind with his 17 points, five rebounds and seven steals; Logan Brabec had seven points, five rebounds and two steals; Risken Dawson four points, two rebounds and one steal; Xzavier Parks three points and one rebound; Carson Dannenbring two points, six rebounds and one steal; and both Eli Banks and Sam Barlow had one rebound.
