Oct 25, 2023 (0)

The Eagle girls continued conference play last week when they squared off against three schools.

Match one of last week was against the Norfolk Catholic Knights on Tuesday, Oct. 17. From the start, things weren't looking too hot for the Eagles. The Knights took a nine-point lead early. Set two was a slight improvement for the Eagles, but the third set ended in a quick 25-7 landslide loss for the girls.

Olivia Young took the lead with four kills, two ace serves, one block, and two digs; Autumn Hilker four kills and one dig; Ashley Sidak four kills; Hannah Hilker two ace serves, 11 digs and 11 set assists; Haley Schluns one ace serve, one block and five digs; Keeley Chavez seven digs; Taylor Dinslage four digs and one set assist; and Bergyn Classen four digs.

Next up on the Eagle's bucket list was the Wayne Blue Devils two days later. This was a close game, but the Devils still managed to overpower their competition.

Set one showed the Eagles keeping a steady pace with the Devils, only trailing by four points. Determined to win, the Eagles gave it their all but still fell to the Devils in the end.

The Eagle's third and final game was against the Boone Central Cardinals during the conference triangular in Albion. This match was a remarkable turnaround for the Eagles, with this being their first win in the week.

The Cardinals took an early lead when they put up 25 points and held down their opponent to 18. The Eagles quickly turned this around and took set two by a score of 28-26. This was looking like a good opportunity for the Eagles to end the week on a positive note, but it wasn't over yet. Set three was intense, but the Eagles managed to sneak in just a few points to take the game.
